The Scandinavian travel market (comprising Denmark, Norway and Sweden) faced similar challenges as most in 2021, as cyclical virus variants and travel restrictions made the path to recovery uncertain. Travel still took place, albeit at a muted level.
Following an unprecedented low in 2020, Scandinavia’s total market rebounded by a modest 15% in 2021, and gross bookings are unlikely to return to 2019 levels until after 2025.
