Summary
Germany has long been Europe’s largest travel market, and in turn suffered devastating losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on travel. Following a 59% market decline in 2020, gross bookings recovered only a marginal 3% in 2021. The road back to the market highs of 2019 will be long and uneven, depending on the segment. While some restrictions have been lifted, the German market is not expected to return to pre-pandemic levels until well beyond 2025.
This report provides a comprehensive view of the Germany travel market, including detailed market sizing and projections, distribution trends, analysis of major travel segments, key developments and more.
