The debate continues surrounding the utility and economic feasibility of New Distribution Capability (NDC). The XML standard launched by IATA clearly solves certain issues, while not totally addressing a few technology gaps. Recent partnerships between airlines, GDSs and OBTs reveal economic-oriented objectives, but simultaneously pose some concerns regarding financial feasibility and technological compatibility.
What is the central goal of NDC, and will it ultimately be useful to the corporate customer? Touching upon some recent developments, this article primarily focuses on the business side of NDC, with a specific concentration on the corporate travel market.
