Newly able to engage in work or school from anywhere, a growing share of travelers embraced the chance to combine work and leisure in a new destination. Coined digital nomads, these individuals that blend work and leisure travel fall into two distinct groups of traveling professionals that engage in the modern nomadic lifestyle.
While a wide range of professionals engage in the digital nomad lifestyle, the typical traveler profile may be surprising. This report, based on a comprehensive survey of these “New Nomads,” explores traveler behaviors, demographics and attitudes regarding the work-and-travel hybrid lifestyle. What these changes mean for industry and travelers is also explored, providing a detailed look at the digital nomad population, traveler motivations and prospects for the future.
