Phocuswright has tracked the digital travel startup landscape for nearly 15 years, and as of the time of publishing this report there are over 4,600 companies in our Travel Startups Interactive Database. In recent years, the industry experienced a funding boom thanks to the low interest rates of 2021, particularly for companies that demonstrated resilience and relevance during the COVID crisis. But following the rapid rise of interest rates and other economic pitfalls, investment activity has dried up precipitously over the past two years.

This analysis of travel funding covers companies founded since 2013 and includes funding rounds raised by these companies through the first half of 2023.
