Wearables Update: What Role Will They Play in Travel?

Have you used your smartwatch to board your flight? How about using your wearable to unlock your hotel room door? The answer most likely is no. The hype around wearables was at its peak when I wrote my last article Wearables: Their Time Has Come in June 2015. Over the last 18 months reality has set in and a clearer picture has emerged of the role wearables are playing in our life today and how they fit in the travel experience in the immediate and mid-term future. This article takes another look at the subject of wearables and readjusts our expectations.
